Waking Wherever

One of my favorite aspects to traveling so frequently is waking wherever. Opening eyes to the random sounds of whatever landscape surrounds us, sometimes chirping birds over the hum of a distant highway, sometimes the banging of construction over the bustle of a city’s morning commute, or the pristine quiet of a state park waking, other times the rattle of rigs at a truck stop. It takes me a few moments to remember where we are, like a blank chalkboard suddenly being flooded with yesterday’s lesson.
There’s something very satisfying about it, as the thin walls of the RV make an early morning easy and the rest of the family stirs, I’m thankful for another day.

I love this too! And how the light inside is different every new place we park. Because of the strange lighting and new sounds and scenery, each time we move it feels like we’re in a different home. It gives me an opportunity to start over, try better next time.
