In a New Year
Nathan posted this in Nathan's Log, Personal Posts
Living in an RV and making a motion out of our daily existence has shown me that anything is possible. Since I met my adventurous, lovely and charmingly vivacious wife, Olivia, my life has been a tailspin of change: quitting my job and going freelance, living in Brighton and Pittsburgh and Portland and now nomading our way around. This year in particular, with us replacing the roots of our tree with the parachutes of a dandelion, we have truly changed our lives.
For that, I’m thankful to Olivia for her inspiration, to Tristan for his young adventurous spirit and willingness to come along, and even a little proud of myself for not chickening out and choosing to stay safe and sound near friends and my local bar back in Pittsburgh.
I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, particularly now when we’re specifically living in the unknown for the sake of it, but I would very much like to accomplish two things this year. I’d love to learn to ride a motorcycle or scooter, just because it’s cool and some day I want to do a giant adventure with Tristan, when he turns 16, to ride motorcycles across Europe. I also want to learn Spanish. Living in Texas it’s easier to learn Spanish than you might think, just by reading all of the signs that are written in both languages, but I’d like to make a serious effort at learning Spanish, and maybe one day even being fluent.
Happy New Year to everyone out there and may all of your resolutions make your dreams come true.

Podemos hablar en español cuando quisiera. Hace un poco tiempo para mí, pero trataré.
If that’s entirely incomprehensible to you, learn some Spanish and get back to me!

When you guys are ready, come on by and we’ll get the learning to ride taken care of. And Ryan and I would love to do Europe with you. On our way to Africa, of course.

Sounds like a plan, Rich!
