Memphis, First Impressions
Last night and today have comprised our entire experience of Memphis, TN so far…and I’m not sure I like it.
Endless strip malls seem to make up 90% of the southeast’s largest city, leaving a relatively small area downtown that is walkable. The bus system is decent, though as the night hit 8pm, 9pm, 10pm…the buses became rare indeed. We ended up getting a cab after waiting over an hour and a half.
I’m excited to explore downtown tomorrow and get away from the strip mall sea that is everything we’ve experienced so far.
On the other hand, everyone from the radio DJs to the automated “your call is important to us, please hold the line” guy on the transit line’s phone service has the throaty deep voice of a blues playing black man. Way to keep it authentic, Memphis.

You dont even eat meat….maybe you can find some “Fake Ribs” = Fribs!!!!

Frib on, I say. We’ve tried some fish tacos, but it just didn’t do the trick.
